We are so excited to announce that the AFCCA Foundation for Children was the 12 Who Care Honoree for June 2013. We submitted an entry early in the year and the 12 News Marketing Team selected our group out of all the nominations they received as one of the 12 in 2013.
Our submission to the program talked about the members of the board, who are all volunteers, and the commitment they have to bettering the lives of Arizona Youth. Our focus, though, was on our School Nurse volunteer, Mary, who selflessly orchestrates all grant requests that come in from schools throughout Arizona. She works with various medical practices to get reduced fees for treatments, surgeries and prescriptions so that we can use our funds to help even more students. She is beam that holds our Foundation together and we love working with her!
For the 12 Who Care Award, The Foundation for Children was given:
- A beautiful trophy that we will have on display at conventions and fundraisers
- A 3 minute interview on Arizona Midday (see it here)
- A 30-second commercial that will run throughout the month of June on Channel 12 (See it here)
- Luncheon with the first six honorees of 2013
- $1200 check that was sponsored by Dan Selznick, owner of The RoomStore Arizona.
Our appreciation to all those involved with the 12 Who Care Program, including the 12 News Marketing Team, Weather Anchorman James Quiñones, Destry Jetton on Arizona Midday, Keith Ritchie for putting together our 12 News 30 Second Commercial, Dan Selznick from The RoomStore Arizona and the staff at 12 News station.
“For more than 20 years, Channel 12 has supported volunteerism through the 12 Who Care volunteer recognition program. Each month a non-profit agency doing extraordinary work in our community is honored, encouraging others to volunteer to further their mission.”
