Today, December 7th, we were so excited to have been able to connect with Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels / Comfy Cozy’s for Chemo. We were able to tour their beautiful new facility and meet the founder Lorraine Tallman to hear her story and vision.
Amanda Hope’s homey and fun building is the host for many teen nights to help kids forget they have cancer for a bit. They provide counseling for families, therapy for the children and so much more. The volunteers and board members host dinners for families at the hospitals, bring care packages, and create “distractions” for the kids while they are in the hospital receiving treatments.
Comfy Cozy’s for Chemo are a specialized hospital gown that was developed to give children dignity while going through chemo. They are made from durable cotton that can be washed over and over again, while providing modest access to the chemo port.
We were so impressed with their cause and all that they do for our Arizona community that, the AFCCA Foundation for Children Board of Directors voted to award the organization $1000 to help children receive a comfy cozy. Each garment is roughly $30, so this grant will help sponsor a comfy cozy for about 330 kids.
Thank you to all of our donors, volunteers, and supporters who made it possible to help another community organization!
